1. Location Sheraton Waikiki’s location is excellent – it sits right on the beach, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the nearby Diamond Head crater. The hotel is on Kalakaua Avenue, the main strip of the upscale restaurant and shops, kind of like Rodeo Drive. International Marketplace, a laid-back Hawaiian shopping center where you can get any souvenirs you want, is only ¼ mile away. Impressive lobby is decorated with sea sculptures, inlaid tile floors, comfortable sofas and chairs.
2. Rooms Sheraton Waikiki is the second largest hotel in Honolulu, after Hilton Hawaiian Village. Rooms are located in two 31-story towers with spectacular mountain and ocean views. It’s hard to get a bad room here. 1,200 rooms have some sort of ocean view, and the remaining 650 rooms overlook Diamond Head. Your room will have a big lanai to take in those magnificent views. Rooms at Sheraton Honolulu are generous in size, well appointed and fresh. Bathrooms offer little extras like really plush towels, terrific soaps, and toothbrush kits.
3. Restaurants Sheraton Waikiki Hotel has several excellent restaurants and bars. The most interesting places are: 1) Hanohano Room A glass-walled elevator will whisk you up to the 30th floor to this elegant dining room at Sheraton Honolulu. The restaurant has amazing views of the ocean and Waikiki – it is the highest vantage point on Waikiki. When the weather is clear, you can see almost everything from Alaska to Australia if the weather is clear. At night, the starlit skies and twinkling city lights can not look any more romantic. So, what’s the menu like? How about Molokai Sweet Potato Crab Bisque or Shiitake-Crusted Mahi Mahi (draped with creamy grain mustard sauce and a drizzled pinot noir reduction), or Lobster-Stuffed Fresh Island Chicken Breast with Morel Sauce? Menu includes many other delicious Continental and Hawaiian dishes, as well as a nice wine list of fine imported European vintages and select California wines. After dinner, indulge yourself with a selection of exquisite desserts and coffee, and listen to the jazz and contemporary song styling of Stardust. On Fri and Sat nights, the restaurant is transformed into a fun nightclub with dancing. The staff, from the hostesses to the tuxedoed waiters, can not be nicer or more efficient. They re-fold your napkin when you leave your seat, replace bread plates, and do many other little things that make you feel very special. Sunday Brunch Buffet is another reason to visit Hanohano room. The buffet includes a sumptuous spread of local favorites and continental dishes, as well as omelet and carving stations. Be prepared for an amazing panoramic view! The morning sun lights up the land from Diamond Head to Pearl Harbor, from the Koolau Mountains to the blue waters of the Pacific. 2) The Ocean Terrace This open-air oceanfront restaurant is famous for its bountiful buffets. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (dinner buffets have a different theme every night). Menu includes Seafood Dim Sum, Steamed Lobster with Drawn Butter, Crab Cakes with Corn Relish and Wasabi Sauce, Parsley Potatoes, Island Sashimi, Salads, Fresh Fruits and Desserts. 3) Yoshiya This contemporary restaurant offers a wide range of Japanese favorites, from sensational fresh sushi to elaborate bento boxes to combination platters. There is an elegant tatami room and a serene Tea Ceremony featuring live music with traditional instruments. 4) Kau Kau Express Small deli where you can get a veggie burger, hot dog, sandwich, breakfast danish, or a refreshing drink without leaving Sheraton Honolulu. It is conveniently located on the lobby level near the main pool, and is open from 5am until 11pm. 5) Sand Bar This is an ideal place to be for sun lovers and people watchers. Let the warmth of the sand nestle between your toes, sip on your favorite tropical drink and enjoy the view of Waikiki Beach. In the evening, magical sounds of Hawaiian music and hula dancing add a special flavor to the colorful sunset. If you don’t feel like sitting at the bar, you can watch the entire show from your balcony. 6) Esprit Nightclub With a 180-degree panorama of Waikiki Beach, Esprit at Sheraton Honolulu is a picture-perfect place for enjoying cocktails and sunsets by the sea. Then, dance the night away to Hawaii’s finest live music.
