1. Location    Maui Prince Hotel is the last resort in Wailea/Makena strip in South Maui. If you drive further south, you will get to Makena's Big Beach (Maui's last undeveloped beach of its size), LaPerouse Bay and Maui's last lava flow, which spilled out of Haleakala Crater around 1790.    Maui Prince Hotel Makena Resort is a little out of the way for some of the island's activities (Lahaina town is an hour away), but if you are mostly looking for beach activities and water sports, you will find plenty of those things right at your doorstep.    The hotel building is surrounded by 1,800 acres of tropical gardens. Asian-style landscaping and open courtyards create a very natural, open feel. You can be yourself at this resort, everyone is here to relax and enjoy Maui.    Maui's main airport, Kahului Airport, is 16 miles away. When you first arrive to the hotel, you will be greeted with a shell lei and cold, moist towels to freshen up - a very nice touch! 2. Rooms    Rooms at Maui Prince Hotel Makena Resort are centered around a courtyard with a Japanese garden, bubbling waterfall and koi pond.    From the very first moment, your room will make you feel very laid-back and relaxed. All interiors are done in soothing mauve and beige tones. Furniture is simple but elegant.    The rooms are not very large but they all have private lanais with amazing views. At night, you can leave the gliding glass door to the lanai open to feel refreshing ocean breeze and listen to the roar of the ocean.    The lowest room category is partial ocean view. These rooms have a nice view of the palm trees and a glimpse of the shoreline. If you prefer to see more of the ocean, you can book a prime ocean view or ocean front room.    If you stay on the south side of the building, you will have a view of the Pu'u Olai volcanic cinder cone and the tiny island of Molokini. On the north side, your view will include West Maui Mountains.    Many of our customers have mentioned that the service at Maui Prince Hotel Makena Resort is always very polite and attentive. Restaurants 1) Prince Court    This restaurant received Hale Aina award as "Best Hotel Restaurant on Maui". It specializes in Contemporary Island Cuisine, including delicious Seafood, Steaks and Game. Dishes such as Tempura Crusted Ahi with ginger butter, The Ultimate Game, which includes Lamb, Venison and Foie Gras, and the Tenderloin of Beef with Half Stuffed Kona Lobster is a sampling of what you will discover in Prince Court. Their extensive wine list won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for depth and creativity. 2) Sunday Champagne Brunch    The Prince Court Sunday Brunch is an event not to be missed! It has been voted "Best Brunch on Maui" by the Maui News poll 6 years in a row. Visitors and locals come here to enjoy a lavish array of delicacies, prepared right before your eyes by their talented chefs. 3) Hakone    Come and enjoy Hakone Japanese cuisine where two menus are rolled into one! The "Traditional" menu features complete dinner selections as well as Sukiyake and Sushi platters. The "Tropical" menu blends Hawaiian culture with Japanese ingredients and is on the cutting edge of Hawaiian dining. The sushi bar is so popular that the sushi chef maintains a sushi web site. 4) Cafe Kiowai    This is cute cafe is surrounded by the largest Koi pond on the island. It is known for lavish breakfast buffet and Hawaiian healthy lunch menu featuring fresh local ingredients. Taro Burgers are amazing! 5) Makena Clubhouse Restaurant    The Clubhouse offers appetizing light lunches in a picturesque setting overlooking the 10th hole of the Makena South Golf Course. After 4 pm, pupus (appetizers) and cocktails are the perfect reason to head on up to watch the sunset and look for that elusive green flash! 6) Molokini Lounge    This bar is known for gorgeous sunset views and excellent live music. Gather with friends and family to watch a hula show and try their refreshing sunset cocktails and delectable pupus. 4. Things to do Beach activities    The beach in front of Maui Prince Hotel Makena Resort is simply amazing. It is big, uncrowded, with gentle surf, warm water, and excellent snorkeling. A wide grass area next to the beach is perfect for lounging around and watching the clouds.    On the southern end of the beach you can see a reef called "Turtle Town" where you can snorkel right next to the giant green sea turtles. A quick tip - go as early in the morning as you can because there are fewer waves then.    If you stay at Maui Prince Hotel between November and April, you will have a perfect view of the whales playing in the water just off the beach.
