1. Location Makahuena at Poipu is on the southernmost point of Kauai. It sits on the bluff above the rocky shoreline close to the center of Poipu. You will enjoy some of the most dramatic ocean vistas in Poipu. One mile away is the Poipu Shopping Village, a lovely open-air island-style mall with shops and restaurants nestled in the middle of the gardens. It is a very safe area, so if you are traveling with teens, they can go to the shopping center on their own. Historic Koloa Town is a few minutes drive from Makahuena. It is a very charming place where you can see ruins of Kauai's first sugar plantation and some of the oldest buildings in Hawaii. Each building has its own story, for example, one of them was Kauai's first hotel where traveling salesmen stayed over 100 years ago. The town has a few local shops, grocery store where you can get fresh island fruit, vegetables and meat, and some restaurants.
2. Rooms You condo will be really large and airy, with huge windows and vaulted ceilings. Splurge for an oceanfront condo if you can - you will be rewarded with breathtaking ocean views from the master bedroom and living room, and lanai that is just a few feet from the water. You will be able to watch both sunrise and sunset from the lanai!
