1. Location    ResortQuest Islander on the Beach (former Aston Islander on the Beach) occupies 6 acres of prime beachfront property on Kauai's east shore. It has the best beach location out of the surrounding hotels.    When you just arrive, the open-sided lobby in traditional plantation style looks very relaxing. It has polished wooden floors and attractive tropical furnishings. There is a shady veranda that overlooks the garden.    Resort grounds are quiet and neat. Wide lawns speckled with shrubs and lined with paths lead down to a peaceful beach. The intoxicating smell of plumerias dotting the property is definitely a big plus.    Right next door is the Coconut Plantation Marketplace where you will find island-style clothing stores, great Hawaiian food, and many unique gifts and souvenirs. Finding a place to eat is never a problem, day or night. You will never hear any noise from the marketplace, even though the hotel is so close.    ResortQuest Islander on the Beach is 15 minutes away from Lihue Airport, and the whole island is within reasonable driving distance. 2. Rooms    ResortQuest Islander on the Beach (also known as Aston Islander on the Beach) looks like a plantation with eight 3-story buildings spread around the grounds. Rooms are small but clean, and overlook the beautiful gardens or the ocean. The bathroom only has a shower, no bathtub.    If you want a really special experience, book an ocean front room. It will be a few yards away from the ocean and have an absolutely magnificent view. You can sleep with the lanai door open and listne to the ocean at night, then wake up to a breathtaking sunrise and the sound of pounding surf just outside your door. There are 194 rooms. Each room features: Beds: 1 king or 2 doubles (Junior Suite has 1 king and sofabed) Air-conditioning Private lanai Color cable TV Mini-refrigerator Coffee maker Shower (no tub) Daily maid service All room are non-smoking     3. Restaurants    ResortQuest Islander on the Beach (also known as Aston Islander on the Beach) does not have an on-site restaurant, but there are quite a few restaurants and cafes located within 1-2 miles from the condo. Here are our 3 favorite places:    1) Flying Lobster/Voyage Restaurant - located next door at the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai    Start off your day with a hearty full-American buffet breakfast, then relish an affordably priced lobster dinner or other American and Hawaiian regional specialties in a tropical setting. Come over on Saturday night for the popular Prime Rib and Seafood Buffet.    If you are traveling with children, keep in mind that each child 11 years and younger eats free with each paying adult.    2) Royal Coconut Grove Lounge - located next door at the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai    Relax by the pool and feel the tropical breezes on your face. The lounge serves lunch and appetizers, and many tropical cocktails. Each evening, the popular Happy Hour has a different island drink on special. A couple of nights a week they have a local band playing traditional Hawaiian songs in the courtyard.    3) Kauai Coconut Beach Luau - located next door at the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai    This nightly show starts at dusk with a torch lighting ceremony, and then follows with about an hour of hula dancing and singing. Balmy breezes and silhouettes of swaying palm trees set a great stage for this colorful celebration of Aloha.    There is also an all-you-can eat buffet with traditional Hawaiian delicacies, and an open bar.    You can book the luau directly through the hotel once you arrive.   4. Things to do Beach activities    The beach in front of ResortQuest Islander on the Beach has nice sand, with just a few rocks and a lava cap shelf. The ocean may be rough for swimming at times, but you can always take a refreshing dip. It is a good spot for snorkeling and surfing. An occasional monk seal comes ashore to take a nap. Pool and poolside bar    A free-form pool and a jet spa sit next to a golden-sand beach surrounded by the coconut palms. It has plenty lounge chairs around, you can take one to the ocean's edge and relax while sipping on a pina colada or mai tai. The Sand Bar by the pool has awesome drinks and great bartenders.
